The Sâkihitowin Recovery Home Program provides supportive recovery housing for individuals who are committed to building a foundation for long-term recovery, stability, and independence. Working closely with treatment providers and community partners, the program offers a continuum of care that supports individuals as they transition from treatment, homelessness, or unstable living situations into a structured recovery environment.
Located throughout Fort McMurray, Sâkihitowin's recovery homes are safe, well-maintained shared residences where individuals live alongside peers who are also pursuing recovery. Residents receive ongoing support through individualized case management, peer mentorship, recovery planning, and regular staff engagement. The program promotes accountability, personal responsibility, and positive community involvement while helping residents develop the skills needed for successful independent living.
As an Indigenous-led program that welcomes individuals from all backgrounds, Sâkihitowin incorporates cultural opportunities, mentorship from Elders and Knowledge Keepers, and connections to community and tradition as part of a holistic approach to recovery. Residents also have access to mental health supports, peer recovery groups, education and employment opportunities, volunteer experiences, and life skills development.
Through a balance of structure, support, and increasing independence, residents work toward goals related to recovery, housing stability, employment, education, and family reunification. By fostering healthy lifestyles, positive relationships, and community connection, Sâkihitowin helps individuals build meaningful futures while contributing positively to the neighbourhoods and communities they call home.
