The Mark Amy Treatment Centre is a 14 bed facility, located in a rural setting 25 minutes south of Fort McMurray Alberta. The program was established in 1989 by the late Mark Amy, a very talented trainer who worked with the Nechi Institute to develop the program management series and assisted First Nations individuals to excel in their wellness pursuits.

The program has been accredited since 2004 and in 2014 was awarded a designation of “Excellence” in Adult Service Delivery through the Canadian Accreditation Council. It is a highly sought after treatment program among both First Nations and non First Nations clientele from across Canada. Our staff and leadership place a high value on individualized and compassionate treatment plan development. Our small group size, high staff/ client ratio and our holistic approach in treating addictions has allowed us to excel in the world of addictions treatment.

The Mark Amy Centre uses an Integrated Biopsychosocial Model of treatment for the management of substance use and behavioral addictions. A synthesis of several approaches and strategies are practiced in order to achieve positive outcomes including: Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the 12-Step Program, traditional First Nations cultural practices, participation in healthy social activities, and a focus on physical wellness through diet and activities. The program ranges in length, but is a mimimum of 8 weeks long.
